The Department of Orthodontics & Dentofacial Orthopedics of Bapuji Dental College and Hospital, Davangere conducted a Hands on course on MBT Treatment Mechanics between 27 and 30 June 2011 in the Orthoalumni Hall with Indian Orthodontic Society, Karnataka Orthodontic Study Group and Orthoalumni as its supporters and 3M Unitek Corporation, India as sponsor.
The course was conducted by Dr. K. Sadashiva Shetty, Principal, Bapuji Dental College, Davangere. Thirty one participants (28 student members and 3 life members) who were from various parts of the country including Karnataka registered and attended the course.
The inaugural ceremony on 27th June 2011 at 9:30 am was presided by Dr. D. S. Mehta, Vice Principal, Bapuji Dental College and Hospital and Dr. L. Nagesh, Head of the Department of Preventive and Community Dentistry. The ceremony was attended by the delegates, HODs, faculty and post graduate students of other disciplines. Following the welcome address by Dr. E. T. Roy the course was formally inaugurated by Dr. D. S. Mehta and Dr. L. Nagesh and the inaugural address was delivered by the latter. The course manual was released by Dr. D. S. Mehta. The four-day comprehensive course on MBT mechanics was a combination of lectures, demonstrations and hands on practice. The work tables of the participants and the course director was named after the founder members of the Indian Orthodontic society in recognition of their contributions and sacrifices to the orthodontic fraternity of our country.
The program included basic topics right from biomechanics to advanced aspects of the philosophy until settling phase. The program confers 18 credit points to all the participants as per the norms of Dental Council of India.
The course was concluded with a valedictory ceremony during which certificates of completion was distributed to the delegates.
